Requirements:
- A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Degree (NQF Level 7) in ICT Computer Science, Informatics, Business Information Management, or Information Technology. A Database Administrator Certificate would be beneficial. Candidates should have 2-3 years of experience working within an ICT database environment, along with a working knowledge of change management, project management, and information management principles. Familiarity with relevant legislation, Public Service Regulations, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Minimum Information Security Standards is essential. The role requires strong planning and organizational abilities, sound customer and quality management skills, and a drive to promote innovation and continuous improvement. Well-developed problem-solving and analytical thinking, solid communication skills, and an awareness of diversity are also important.
Duties:
- Design, develop, and maintain databases, including scripting and performance optimization using Microsoft SQL 2016 and later versions. Manage system workloads to ensure high availability and effective disaster recovery. Develop and maintain data documentation, and provide technical ICT support as needed. Prepare design specifications and build database systems tailored to business requirements, including developing schemas, tables, and data dictionaries. Gather and assess requests relating to database layout and special features, and troubleshoot database issues and malfunctions as they arise.
